Copyright in a digital world – what do companies need to consider?
We use, share and create more content than ever. At the same time, AI has made it possible to produce images, texts and other material in a matter of seconds. But the technical development also leads to new questions about copyright.
May we use material we find online?
The fact that an image, text or video is available online does not mean that it is free to use.
Generally, permission is needed to use copyrighted material of someone else. It is therefore important for companies to know where material is from and what rights or licences are associated with it.
New tools – the same need for clarity
AI changes how companies create content, but the need to understand what rights they have remains. Indeed, it is increasingly more important to have clear processes and guidelines concerning which material the company uses, how it has been created, and what rights (and obligations) that follow with it.
Do you use AI generated content in your organisation? Are you aware of the rights (or lack thereof) you have in relation to it?
