At work, I want to make a difference for others.
I also want to be challenged, think in new ways and feel a sense of belonging. The most rewarding part is helping a good idea take flight. All of that happens here.
Background
Claes is a lawyer. He studied law in Sweden, Canada and France and has 20 years of experience in patent law and other areas of intellectual property law in various roles. Most recently, he served as a European patent judge (reappointed) at the EPO Boards of Appeal in Munich, having previously worked as specialist counsel at a leading Swedish law firm. For almost ten years, Claes also served as the Swedish Government’s patent law expert in international negotiations and legislative matters, with a particular focus on the Unitary Patent system (UP/UPC), and was deeply involved in implementing the reform at both European and national level. Earlier in his career, he served as a judge in the intellectual property divisions of Stockholm District Court and Svea Court of Appeal.
Claes is responsible for the firm’s legal matters and leads the legal department’s day-to-day operations. He works on strategic matters as well as at a detailed level with applications, disputes and agreements across the full spectrum of intellectual property law. His working languages are Swedish, English, German and French.
“I am a dedicated person who enjoys reading, travelling and exercising, preferably outdoors, and of course spending time with family and friends.”
